Smooth Boba
Boba, also known as bubble tea, is a sweet, iced beverage that originated in Taiwan in the 1980s. It typically combines brewed tea—often black, green or oolong—with milk or fruit flavorings, sweeteners, and chewy “pearls” made from tapioca starch. These pearls, sometimes called boba, sit at the bottom of the cup and are sucked up through an extra-wide straw, adding a playful texture contrast to the smooth drink. Over the years, countless variations have emerged—ranging from fruit-infused teas with popping fruit balls to creamy milk teas topped with foam—making boba a globally popular, customizable treat enjoyed in cafes and street stalls alike.
